Most of the International Ballistic Testing Standards were developed based upon the range of common calibers available throughout the military and commercial sectors. The standards define the bullet types and projectile velocity ranges which Ballistic Resistant products must defeat. With regards to Small Arms Ballistic Test Standards requirements, the following weapons listed below are the most common type military and commercial weapons utilized in the international community today. Other common “middle range” calibers which are not defined within a specification, such as the 7.62x39mm, can be defeated by a 7.62x51 NATO Ballistic Standard product.
